Day 16: What I'm Currently Reading

I have an obsession with biographies and memoirs...if it didn't really happen, I don't really want to read about it!  I enjoy reading about people that have had personal struggles and somehow find the strength to overcome them.  It inspires me and I love feeling inspired.
Mary Beth is married to Steven Curtis Chapman, a very successful musician.  These two extraordinary people have struggled to find happiness after the death of a child.  I really can not imagine anything worse than losing a child.  I don't think we can even wrap our brains around the amount grief and sadness that would accompany such an event.  What makes this story even tougher is that it was their teenage son that accidentally ran over their four year old daughter with his car.  As parents they had to deal with losing a daughter and helping their son deal with an immense amount of guilt.  They had to choose to move forward from this event and trust that they will see their daughter again in heaven.
I guess I take a lot from these stories as far as totally appreciating my time with my girls and realizing that life can drastically change in the blink of an eye.  I try not to take things for granted and tell those around me how much they mean to me.

In addition to this book I am also trying to keep up with a 1 year plan to read the entire Bible.  This is quite the feat but I enjoy it and have already gained a lot from it.

Now all of this deep reading is accompanied by my other obsession, "People" magazine.  I've got to keep up with whats going on in Hollywood :)  As of this week Jennifer Aniston has clarified that she is not adopting a baby from Mexico and Halle Berry is still fighting with her incredibly hot ex-boyfriend over for their incredibly cute little girl.  Makes my life sound pretty good.

  1. Having watched far too many of my friends navigate this world, without their children,I think I can say, with a fair amount of certainty, that there is nothing that can compare.Nothing.The Chapman family and their story,is testament to,the true in the words,"without our faith, where would we be".Certainly far more broken families/marriages and individual lives, with nothing to get out of bed for.Our faith had sustained us over the past 4 years. No question about it.

As for People... don't you know it,that I cannot live, okay that is a bit of an exaggeration, without my weekly People fix... if it is a day late in the mail,I am wondering where it's at!!
