Our Christmas season started with a darling sing-a-long at Brooklynn's preschool. All of the children were dressed very cute and ready to share the songs they had been working on. They also made instruments from objects found around home. We love watching Brooklynn in her element, in front of a crowd.
Jesse's family has a tradition of making Bird's Nest Cookies which Jesse now carries on for our little family. He looks darn good in an apron.
Our family Christmas weekend started with the Beaudette Christmas. Opa, Oma, Uncle Jason and Shanon all celebrated Christmas with us on Sunday December 23. The girls received lots of great gifts and lots of love and attention. Shanon (Jason's friend) hit the jackpot when she gave the girls a play house that they could decorate with markers.
Brooklynn also received Rapunzel hair from Opa and Oma that she absolutely loves.
Irelyn was Jesse's little helper when making sure all of the gifts were out from under the tree. Brooklynn got a very neat Animal Encyclopedia from National Geographics. More facts for her eager brain.
This is a picture of a happy little girl. Irelyn's most favorite thing to do is sit and read a good book. We often look around and wonder where our little Piglet is at and find her reading in her bedroom. If she loves books now I can't wait until she can actually read.
We celebrated Christmas with Poppa Jim and Grandma Artie on Christmas Eve. Another afternoon filled with lots of love and attention (and lots of jumping on Poppa Jim). The girls received a very neat 2 person (miniature persons) tent with a tunnel from Poppa Jim and Grandma Artie. Christmas Eve our family went to a beautiful service at our church. What a wonderful way to remember the best gift of all, baby Jesus!
Christmas morning started bright and early. OK not so bright since it doesn't get light around here until 8:30 a.m.. Brooklynn was awake at 6:45 and quickly realized that Santa had indeed visited our house. She waited, and waited, and waited until 7:45 when she finally said "I've been so patient but I am starting to feel a little impatient." Piglet loves her sleep and was finally roused at 8:15 by some very loud bouncing in the livingroom. Brooklynn received her "better bouncier pogo-stick" that she had asked for. She saw a commercial for the pogo-stick and thinks it is actually called the "Better Bouncier Pogo-Stick". If you ask her what she got for Christmas that is exactly what she will tell you. :) You'll notice in the above picture that Brooklynn is wearing her bike helmet to insure all safety for the indoor pogo-bouncing session. Irelyn got her baby doll and stroller that she had asked for from Santa.
Christmas afternoon we opened gifts from Bop and Nommie. More books and lots of smiles and cheers.
Notice the VERY LARGE pogo-stick in the background. Yep, very large. Santa must not have realized that Brooklynn is a mere 39 lbs and 3 1/2 feet tall. Maybe he just figured she'd grow into it. Maybe he didn't look for a pogo-stick until the last minute and that was all he could find.
Irelyn also received her very own craft kit and very large sketch pad.
Each year with our young ladies brings more excitement at Christmas time. It is so much fun to live vicariously through your children. We are so blessed to have these little girls in our lives and this Christmas reminded of that once again.
(I hope I feel the same way when we have a 12 yr old and 14 yr old living in our house :)
Happy New Year to our family and friends. We hope that this year brings more down time to enjoy our new home with our little family and our amazing friends.
Merry, merry Christmas!
